Dear moms, I have a dilemma. My baby's 1 year old and I was planning to wean him around now but now I'm realising that I was thinking of doing that for the wrong reasons and that I would prefer to have a baby-led weaning. But I'm worried about 2 things: first and foremost that if I don't wean him, he won't be able to spend a night without me whereas I'm going to have to leave him for a week-end next month and probably for a few days for work in the coming ones. Second, that it could take years for him to wean naturally and I don't know if I'm ready for that. Has any of you had to leave a breastfed baby/toddler still waking through the night for a few days and how did that go? For those of you who have experience of baby-led weaning, at what age did that happen? Would love to hear your experiences! Thanks a lot!

My son is 11.5 months old, exclusively breastfed but has been eating solids since 6 months and I have to travel over night for work every other month. I was so worried what would happen and in all honestly, it's "out of site, out of mind", my son does very well with my husband/mother in law when I'm gone. If you son gets hungry, trust me, he will eat! No need to worry when you leave, I can bet he will act like a big boy when you leave and you'll be quite surprised how good he will do. :-) once you return, your baby will want to jump right back into your arms and snuggle. It's the best feeling!
