It is almost impossible to keep my newborn awake longer than 5 minutes when she nurses. I have tried almost every trick I could find online and nothing helps. She nurses 5 minutes, I change her and switch sides, nurses another 5 then is out for 10 minutes only to wake still hungry. I’m worries she’s not getting the fatty milk she needs, that it may mess with my supply and that this could be why she’s not sleeping at night. Help?!

As a third time mom, my suggestion is to not switch sides in the same feeding. I learned that during my breast feeding journey with my first child, he would never get full when I used the switch sides method, one day I just let him feed on one side until he let off on his own and he was satisfied for much longer. Now with my third, I’m over producing so I stick to one side until it feels empty which is usually two feedings.

I agree I feed my son on the left side let him drain the breast then if he's full and falls asleep it's fine. For his next feeding I would let him drain the right boob. Your boobs will adjust and if you forget which breast you last fed on you can just feed and latch you little one of the more fuller breast. You can also keep her on the left and pump the right and alternate between feedings
