My son and I have been gradually weaning. We are down to 1-2 sometimes 3 if he's not feeling well feedings a day. He is 14 months old at this point and eats solids and has milk as well (he bfs more out of comfort, especially his nap) My questions are has anyone felt sick and hungry despite it being a gradual wean, and also I still have not started my period but I've noticed vaginal mucous and I've been having cramps. Just wanted to know if this was typical even for gradual weaning. I can honestly say there are days when my ovaries hurt! I kind of expected this but I didn't expect to be hungry seeing as though I'm not producing as much milk.

This is exactly what I'm going through. My son is 11.5 months old, I'm experiencing the EXACT same symptoms also. My doctor said it sounds like my period might be returning soon. But she told me to stop breastfeeding completely and it should return within 1-3 months.

It was exactly that! I finally got a period August 8 and this past one just came fairly late. It still is painful and it's definetly irregular. I guess it will take time for us to get back to being "normal" [smile]. We stopped completely about 3 weeks ago.
