I wanted to wean naturally, with baby-led Weaning, but I just can't do it. My daughter is 15 months old, and I am struggling with just nursing her at night.

Our breastfeeding journey has been pretty easy. We haven't had any latch issues, or mastitis, or any other of the scary things I've read about. I am so thankful for that. And I've loved breastfeeding my baby girl, so much so that I have a real interest in becoming a lactation consultant.

My daughter only nurses at night, in the morning, and that super rare occasion that I just can't get her to calm down in the middle of the day. But after she got her top teeth, all she does in bite me. I've tried every way I could think of, and every tip on the mommy blogs to get her to stop, and she just doesn't respond. But this post isn't about wanting tips for the biting. I've decided that our breastfeeding journey needs to come to an end. It has just taken too much out of me at this point, and the last drawing of blood has sealed the deal.

She still nurses through the night, probably wakes 2-3 times. It's easy to tell her "no boobies" during the day when I can distract her with toys or a tomato (her favorite food this week), but at night time, when I'm exhausted, and my husband has to get up crazy early in an hour, I feel like I can't say no, because she'll just scream. I can't even lay her down to bed without her pulling down my shirt. My husband has to do it every night.

First off: weldone on breastfeeding your daughter for 15 months. It sounds like you're feeling guilty about your weaning decision. Don't.
You've done an.excellent job and she will reap the benefits of your bf decision for years to come.
It is now time to focus on other aspects of your relationship with her and to focus on yourself.
Go buy a new bra!

As for advice on how to wean..I'm not an.expert on weaning but it's either cold turkey or decrease bf over time (say a week)'

Good luck x

Congrats on making it 15 months! My little girl will be 18 months and I'm trying to wean to and it's been a very difficult process here to. I am just glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way about weaning. I hope it works out for you and your little one.

Thank you! I just saw these replies as I was going through my emails, so I'm a little late. haha. We ended up going another month with nursing, and Raleigh ended up just not asking anymore. She just turned 2, and we are trying to expand our family! I'm planning on nursing the next baby, and am curious how she's going to react!
